The Forest WayINSIGHT MEDITATION
Insight meditation focuses on cultivating mindful awareness of four different aspects of our experience: the body, feelings, states of consciousness, and cognitive processes. During group retreats, participants have significant contact with a teacher who closely monitors their progress. There are also opportunities for self-retreats in which students practice individually while being supported by a teacher via e mail, phone, or in-person conferences.

BALANCING THE MIND AND HEART
Many meditators focus on the transcendent aspect of their practice and may neglect to balance the development of their wisdom with the cultivation of an open heart. During our retreats, we teach practices to support students in expressing love, compassion, and serenity in their every day lives.

THE NON-DUAL DIMENSION OF LIFE
There is only one ultimate truth, which cannot be defined, explained, or put into words. Concepts can only define that which can be compared, those things that are dualistic in nature. We offer non-dual meditations that focus on developing the capacity to see through our mental constructs in order to realize the non-conceptual reality that is the very essence of our lives.  

INDIVIDUALIZED TRAINING
The Forest Way was so named to represent the age old tradition of people going into the forest for extended periods of time to intensely practice meditation and other forms of contemplation. During this time, they would have access to a teacher who would offer detailed instructions and guide their practice. The Forest Way offers a similar opportunity to a select number of students who are dedicated to their meditation practice, but are leading traditional householder lives.
